About Me
Paddy Love - Cognitive Behavioural Therapist
I have 32 years experience as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) in the Belfast Trust. The last 23 years has been as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, having completed my CBT Training at The University of Ulster at Jordanstown (1996-98).
As the CBT Lead for Belfast Trust, I have been instrumental in the establishment of the CBT Service in the South and East Belfast Legacy Trust. I have extensive experience in therapy, training and supervision of CBT Therapists. I have had a strong interest in the utilisation of psychological therapies for Non-CBT Mental Health Practitioners through training and supervision of these groups. I also introduced Stress Control Classes to Northern Ireland and have helped establish a network of CBT therapists delivering the stress control programme within the NHS across Northern Ireland.
I am the former Chair of Irish Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (IABCP) from 2010-2016. During that time, I assisted in re-establishing the local Branch which focused on bringing bi-annual workshops to Ireland and reinvigorating interest among the IABCP membership. The highlights of my involvement as IABCP Chair were to hold the first British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) Spring Conference in QUB, Belfast in April 2013 and the first Annual BABCP Conference held in the Waterfront Hall in June 2016. The success of these Conferences has resulted in the European Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (EABCT) planning to hold the Annual Conference at the Waterfront Hall in June 2021.
I have been accredited as a CBT Therapist with BABCP since 1998 and pride myself in offering therapy to individuals in a highly skilled and professional manner. My aim is to help individuals make sense of their problems and ultimately to become their own therapist, as we all are the best managers of our own mental health and well-being.
